What is Found Series?
Welcome to the Found Series. We are a creative team of filmmakers, editors, and artists who use film as a tool for social change. Our mission is to create documentaries that inspire people to take action and make positive change in their communities.
We believe that by telling stories we can inspire others to take up causes they care about. Whether it’s highlighting environmental injustice, championing human rights, or fighting poverty, our films aim to provoke thought and action.
Our latest project is called “What is Found?” The film tells the story of three families who have lost everything in the wake of Hurricane Harvey. Through their stories we explore how this tragedy has affected them both emotionally and physically, and how they’ve turned to filmmaking as a form of healing.
Filming has already started on “What is Found?” and we’re looking for help funding our final stages of production. If you could donate even just $5 or £3, it would go a long way towards helping us finish our film on time and with quality content.
Thank you for considering our project!

How do I become a part of Found Series?
The Found Series is the brainchild of Austin-based filmmakers, Lisa and Allen Knudsen. The duo conceived of the series after noticing a dearth of film content focused on Central Texas. “We wanted to create something that would be representative of our region,” Lisa says.
Since its inception in 2015, the Found Series has released four films. The first installment, Finding Family, chronicled the Knudsens’ efforts to connect with their biological parents. The second film, Lone Star Love Story, followed two friends as they navigated their complicated relationship following a devastating breakup. In 2018’s Borderline Bakeries, filmmaker Sara Hager tracked eight women who run a small bakery in East Austin. And in 2019’s Big Texan Love Story, filmmaker Michael Watts documented the romantic journey of two strangers who meet while working at an oilfield campground in West Texas.
To become a part of the Found Series filmmaking team, applicants must submit a short film pitch and undergo an interview process that includes screenings of previous work. “We want to make sure we’re casting for the right reasons and not just because we need someone for a particular role or shot,” Lisa says. “We want people who are passionate about telling stories about Austin and Central Texas.”
